A Chinese working group analyzed the international scientific literature on spinal surgery, processing the publications of the past 15 years on the subject of wound infection following spinal surgery (Surgical site infection in spinal surgery: a bibliometric analysis, Wang et al., Journal of Orthopedic Surgery and Research (2023) 18:337, https://doi.org/10.1186/s13018-023-03813-6).
The scientific papers published in the topic were ranked according to the number of citations and the top 100 publications were listed separately by the authors. In this top 100 list, the 2016 work of the working group led by Dr. Lazáry takes the 47th place, which dealt with the risk factors of wound healing disorders following routine spine surgeries, processing the data of a large group of patients (Risk factors for surgical site infection in elective routine degenerative lumbar surgeries, Klemencsics et al., Spine J. 2016 Nov;16(11):1377-1383. doi: 10.1016/j.spinee.2016.08.018.). Our publication has been cited by 48 other studies so far, and only 7 publications are on the top list that collected more references on this topic in a shorter period of time.
We are proud that the National Center for Spinal Disorders serves the continuous development of spine surgery with its outstanding scientific results on the international stage as well.
